BEDFORD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS ANNOUNCES NEW SUPERINTENDENT
 
Bedford County School Board is excited to announce Mr. William F. Dupere as the new Superintendent of Bedford County Public Schools. Mr. Dupere is a dedicated educator with a career spanning over 4 decades, beginning in 1981. With extensive experience in both private and public administration, Mr. Dupere has demonstrated a commitment to fostering academic excellence and student development. Prior to residing in Bedford County, Mr. Dupere served as Headmaster of Berean Christian School in Palm Beach, Florida for 14 years.

Mr. Dupere has a comprehensive background in school operations, including administration, personnel management, budgeting, student services, professional development, facility construction and management, as well as campus safety and security. This extensive experience ensures that the school
environment is conducive to learning and growth for all students.

Mr. Dupere earned his B.S. in Physical Education from The King’s College, a M.A. in Health and Physical Education from Rowan University, and his M. Ed. in Educational Leadership from Lynn University.

Outside of professional achievements, Mr. Dupere is married, a proud parent of two adult sons, and a grandparent to five grandchildren reflecting the importance of family values in his life and work.

Mr. Marcus Hill, Chairman of Bedford County School Board stated, “One of the Superintendent search survey comments stated, ‘A servant leader would be a perfect fit for our district.’ I am confident that we’ve found our servant leader.”

Mr. Dupere is eager to meet the Bedford County Community. We will be sharing soon about how he plans to get to know you better. Mr. Dupere will assume his new position with Bedford County Public Schools on July 1, 2024.

SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH

The Bedford County School Board announced Thursday, February 8, 2024, the timeline for hiring a new superintendent to join them in providing equal opportunities for all students to think critically, collaborate, create, communicate, and become productive citizens.  Surveys and Town Hall meetings will be available for all stakeholders to share their vision with the School Board starting on Monday, February 26. The School Board will incorporate the ideas shared by our students, parents, teachers, staff, and community to define the leadership characteristics and qualifications of the next superintendent of Bedford County Public Schools.

Marcus Hill, School Board Chairman, stressed the significance of selecting the next superintendent, saying "this is one of the most important actions that the School Board has responsibility for.  The Superintendent sets the stage for the success of our school system.  We are looking for someone special to lead one of the best school divisions in Virginia.  We look forward to this process and the search for our next Superintendent of Bedford County Public Schools."

As the first steps in the search process, we need your thoughtful and candid input to ensure that the voice of the community is part of our search to find the best superintendent for BCPS.

Please take five (5) minutes to complete this survey to share your input in the superintendent search process.  After interviewing finalists this spring, we anticipate finalizing the selection of the new superintendent by late May to early June 2024.

The process for searching for a new superintendent includes opportunities for stakeholder engagement, which include a public input survey, town halls, the selection of applicants, interviews, and the selection of a new superintendent.
