Mr. Johnathan Knight
Mr. Knight was elected November 7, 2023. Johnathan is a Christian, husband, and father of three. He lives in Goodview, VA and has worked as an engineering manager at P&D Engineers for the last 15+ years. Prior to that he served in the US Navy as an operator and instructor for the nuclear power division.  It was during this time in the Navy that he fell in love with both his wife Jenna and Bedford County. Jenna grew up in Goodview and is a graduate of Staunton River High School. Johnathan and Jenna met in 2006 while she was visiting family in Charleston, where he was stationed. Johnathan visited Bedford often while he and Jenna were dating. After they were married, they started a family and moved to Atlanta for a position he was offered with an engineering group. Later, they relocated to East TN, and eventually they were able to move back to Goodview and open a branch office. Johnathan and Jenna have been back in Goodview for two years and are so thankful to be home. Since coming back they have been welcomed right in by old friends, and by new friends - especially as they have gotten involved with the school system, sports teams, and church. The Knights currently attend Goodview Baptist. Johnathan grew up in an area of the country that is very similar to this part of Virginia. He was born and raised on the TN River and Lake Guntersville in North East Alabama. His family still lives there today. He spent most of my time either on the wrestling mats or outdoors - mainly riding dirt bikes, hunting, and fishing. Johnathan still enjoys the outdoors and fishing. He also still enjoys wrestling and spends a significant amount of time as a volunteer coach for the Staunton River and Smith Mountain Lake Wrestling Club. Jenna is the head coach of the SRHS Girls Wrestling Team. In addition to wrestling, the Knights are also involved with teaching and mentoring teenagers and young children through the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Over the last 10 years, this has become a passion for them. Mr. Knight's reason for running for school board was actually pretty simple. He has children in the Bedford County system, and he desires to do his part to help make Bedford County Schools the best possible environments for education. Johnathan believes we all want our schools to give our children quality opportunities to learn and prepare for adulthood. He wants to be an ear and a voice for the students and parents, as well as the teachers and the staff of this area. He wants to hear the concerns of the community and make informed decisions about how our children are educated. We want safe and productive schools that encourage all of our children to enjoy learning and maximize their potential.
