Important Employee Information
Employees who have yet to sign their 2014-2015 contract can do so by visiting the Human Resources Department at the Central Office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The Human Resources Department is located at 310 S. Bridge Street, Bedford, VA 24523. You may also call 540-586-1045, ext. 221 with questions.

School Board

Bedford County Public Schools will be seeking proposals for the lease purchase of fourteen [14] school buses. Please click here for more information.

August 21, 2014 - The Bedford County School Board will hold its closed session beginning at 4:00 p.m. There will be a School Efficiency Review Work Session at 5:00 p.m. and the regular meeting will begin immediately after the work session ends. These meetings will be held in the School Board Conference Room.

August 28, 2014 - The Bedford County School Board will be touring the following schools on Thursday, August 28, 2014: Bedford Primary School at 6:00 p.m. and Thaxton Elementary School at 7:00 p.m.

September 2, 2014 - The Bedford County School Board will be conducting a public hearing on potential closing/consolidation of elementary schools in the Liberty Zone and the resulting redistricting of students. The hearing will take place on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Liberty High School auditorium. If you wish to speak at this hearing, please contact Sherry Ratliff, School Board Clerk, at 540-586-1045 ext. 257. You may also sign up to speak on the evening of September 2, 2014 when you arrive at the hearing. 

September 11, 2014 - The Bedford County School Board will hold a Special Called Meeting on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Bedford Science and Technology Center to discuss and possibly take action regarding the potential consolidation of elementary schools in the Liberty Zone for 2014-15, and the resulting redistricting of students. Though no public comment will be received at this meeting, it will be open to the public. This meeting will be held prior to the regular School Board meeting which will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the School Board Office Conference Room.

The responsibility for protecting students from sexual misconduct and abuse is shared by the school board, school board employees, school volunteers, parents, state agencies, and law enforcement. Wearing seat belts is not only the law, but it saves lives!  Did you know that the National Safety Council reports that more than 75,000 lives were saved over four years by simply clicking a seat belt?  For the remainder of the year, seat belt checks will be conducted by state and local police officers near our high schools.  Take a moment to “Click it!”  It may save you a ticket, and, more importantly, it may save your life!
