BCPS Clear Bag Policy

BCPS Clear Bag Policy

To help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors, Bedford County Public Schools will implement a clear bag requirement at all school-sponsored athletic events held at BCPS middle and high schools beginning with the 2026-2027 fall athletic season.

Under this new requirement, you are allowed to bring:
Clear bags made of plastic, vinyl, or PVC
Small personal or clutch-style wallets

The following items will not be permitted:
Backpacks
Purses
B
riefcases
Fanny packs
Luggage or travel bags
Large or non-transparent bags
Diaper bags (unless accompanying an infant or small child)

Please note the following additional guidelines:
All bags are subject to inspection upon entry,
Bags containing medical supplies or infant care items will be screened at the gate,
G
uests arriving with prohibited items will be asked to return those items to their vehicles before entering the event,
Any item determined to be illegal or unsafe will be confiscated and referred to law enforcement,
BCPS is not responsible for personal belongings left at entrances, ticket gates, or other event areas.

We encourage all families and guests to plan ahead and review these requirements before attending athletic events. The clear bag policy will help improve event security and expedite entry into our facilities.

Please see the flyer below with images of approved and non-approved bags. Reminders will be sent out from the school and division throughout this transition. There will be additional signage placed at the gates and entrances to these events.

Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work together to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone attending BCPS athletic events.
