The Bedford County Public Schools Strategic Plan sets a major goal of preparing students to be successful in college and career fields. The Instructional department works with teachers, administrators, and other departments to develop curriculum, lead professional development in instructional approaches, and selecting and designing materials to accomplish this goal.
The Instructional Department works to increase student participation and success in advanced programs such as Advanced Placement and dual enrollment courses. We challenge students to plan for career goals and take the Career and Technical Education courses appropriate to those interests. We collaborate with community businesses, government, and agencies to promote senior internships in which students can bring their years of learning together in a relevant, engaging way.
Across all disciplines, we help schools use effective formative assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely and strong intervention. We lead and coordinate learning opportunities for teachers and administrators to strenthgen their skills and knowledge. We strive to keep the focus of our classrooms on students, increasing student engagement and ownership of the learning process. We develop curriculum that is rigorous for all students.
