Destruction of Special Education Records
Notice is hereby given that Bedford County Public Schools intends to destroy the special education records of students who graduated from Liberty High School between 2004 and 2007. The 2004 records are maintained for five years after a student withdraws or graduates from school. A permanent academic record containing the student's name, address, phone number, grades, attendance record, and year of graduation or withdrawal is maintained for 75 years.

Any student meeting this criteria may receive these records by contacting the Registrar at (540) 586-2541 or email at
bcpsrecords@bedford.k12.va.us. Requests must be made by May 29. 2013. Destruction of these records will begin May 31, 2013.

PLEASE NOTE: Certain records may be needed by the student, parent, or guardian for social security benefits or other purposes.

Bedford County Public Schools is revising its teacher evaluation system based in part on state and federal requirements.

Substitute Information - Currently Bedford County Public Schools has a waiting list for substitute teachers. You may submit an online applications with necessary documents to complete your file which will stay active for one year. Licensed applicants will be processed first and any prior to October may not be processed until later in the school year if needed.

Sexual Misconduct and Abuse Prevention Training
- The responsibility for protecting students from sexual misconduct and abuse is shared by the school board, school board employees, school volunteers, parents, state agencies, and law enforcement.
